Holy Batshit Robin!

Check it out: http://www.audioscrobbler.com

D/l a plugin for your player, sign in, and it keeps track of what you listen to. Mix in a huge database of other people, and you've got tops charts, "people who listen to (insert band here) also listen to (insert a list of fifty bands here)", and recommendations for (new?) music based on what you listen to.

Very cool. And free, too.

P.S. - We need new activity, dammit.

P.P.S. - I have need of new industrial/etc. I lurve teh VNV Nation, but I need new! Any rec's?

P.P.P.S. - WTF is up with allmusic.com?

P^4.S. - Trance DJ recommendation: Ayla. Fan-fucking-tastic.

MUZIK [17 May 2005|03:56pm]

[ mood | tired ]

Music is my life. I live it. I breathe it. It is what i thrive on.

Songs of the moment:

Dire Straits - Romeo and Juliet
Dog's Eye View - Umbrella
Louis xiz - Hall of Mirrors
Steriogram - Walkie Talkie Man
Snow Patrol - Get Balsamic Vinegar, Quick you fool!
Jack Johnson - Sitting Wishing Waiting
Doves - pounding

I love looking up soundtracks to movies(quality of the movie and quality of the soundtrack often don't correlate) and finding new random artists. :)

Your polyester kakis are filling me with fear! [19 Dec 2004|03:11pm]

...2, 3, skank!
well they follow us around
wherever we may go
it feels like there's no freedom
not even in our homes

from the polyester khakis
they were driving me insane
the reason why i drink
it took away the pain

well the polyester khakis
they were filling me with fear
that's why i go down town
and buy some more beer!

control resist
control
resist control!

The Mad Caddies are really awesome and everyone should like them, even if polyestr khakis do not drive you into a scared frenzy.

Speaking of a frenzy...

Five Iron Frenzy is pretty amazing too. I think what i love about them the most are their really profound lyrics, found in songs such as "My Evil Plan to Save The World", "These are Not My Pants", and "Pre-Ex-Girlfriend." Although another band with rather meaningful lyrics are The Planet Smashers, with songs such as "My Girlfriend is a Vampire," "Coolest Guy in the Whole World," and OF COURSE their most well known song, "Super Orgy Porno Party."

Enjoy! and let me know if you would like any of these songs. :)

I'm in the process of making a really good 'broken heart' mix- i plan on posting it here when i finish like a diligent emo soldier.

An amazing new artist- Joanna Newsom.
You are doing yourselves a grave disservice if you do not listen to her song "sprout and the bean."

for said song lyricsCollapse )

Also, a new website of interest: www.musicplasma.com
matches your music interests with similar artists. Worth a look.

I just picked up No Thanks! The 70s Punk Rebellion
this is an amazing compilation
it mainly composed of people I've never heard of, or heard very very little of
no sex pistols! and only 2 Ramones songs (cause for celebration?)
favourtie songs off of it... this is artist/title right?

Dead Boys/Sonic Reducer
Magazine/Shot by Both Sides
999/Homocide
Joy Division/Love Will Tear Us Apart

i could go on for almost the entire 4 CD set!
there's a lot of artists on here that you wouldn't normally think of punk, like the pretenders and elvis costello! ahwell, it still seems to work out

I'm always interested in different kinds of music so please, i'd love to hear what you recommend!

I'm looking for a song by MC Solaar entitled 'Cinquéme Saison'
does anyone know what album its off of?

Check out the album "Songs to Learn and Sing."

Or just watch a couple John Hughes movies.

The main dude sounds vaguely like Robert Smith.

Keane - Bedshaped

Yo La Tengo - Cherry Chapstick

Badly Drawn Boy - The Shining

(I just read the guidelines, which informed me that artist - title was the correct format. Damn guidelines. Who follows rules anyway? Kidding. I'm kidding.)
